So I'm killing some time while waiting for my date tonight w/B. It's been a month, a whole 'freakin month since we last saw each other. That is unacceptable and we are going to have a little chat about that. I'm feeling a lot better. Am back to breathing through my nose and am only coughing a wee bit (mostly when I laugh hard) ...this has been the least annoying cold I've had in years. Thank goodness.
So laying in bed this morning, hearing a song by my favorite artist, Jonatha Brooke and some of the lyrics were really talking to me "...you live your life like it's over..." oh that seems so true for me right now. I'm not going out and living ..well, like I used to. I recently told my roommate that when I was in my 20's I worked 3 jobs and was out all the time. My 30's have been about staying in but maybe I've gone too far to the extreme.
I just finished "White Witch, Black Curse" by Kim Harrison (4 out of 5 stars) and am thinking about how most of my favorite authors who write about women are writing about women who are out, about and kicking ass. They're not spending their days off from work, moping about the house, watching TV or reading. (Of course they're not because who wants to read about someone doing that?) Oh man, this is such a broken record for me. I've been saying for years how I know I need to get out and do more stuff. Take classes, get together with friends more often, etc. but do I? Nope. Why not?? I just don't know. The only thing getting in the way of my having a more active, interesting life is myself. Why don't I get out of my damn way?
And I have the nerve to get mad at B when he says he should be getting up earlier himself and then he could get a lot more done in his life (as if he needs to be doing more between working in his family's business 7 days a week, being a property owner/landlord, his family obligations, the kid and making time for moi ...I know, I know, I should give the guy a break and not bust his chops about not seeing me for a month) ...actually I know why I get mad at him for saying that...because he's already too freakin' busy! He does plenty for everyone else.
Anyhoo. I just need to do what I've advised a few others to do...just take a baby step. Spring is here (well, a hell of a lot closer than it's been)...the sun shines longer and the weather is warmer. So maybe I'll finally get some motivation to do stuff and get unstuck. We'll see.
Musings from a big and beautiful sometimes "drama queen" on her current state of existence
What's It All About?
"The unexamined life is not worth living." Socrates
While you’re here, in this time and in this space, you are beautiful and you are perfect.
You are right where you need to be to get to where you want to go, so start asking yourself where you want to go.
